Building Technical Capacity for Climate Resilient Infrastructure in Suriname
Location: Suriname
In collaboration with the Global Affairs Canada, Alinea International, and the Suriname Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environment, this initiative supports Suriname’s National Adaptation Plan Strategic Component #4 “national technical capacity that is fully trained and skilled at leading and implementing climate change adaptation actions”. The project aimed to increase the technical capacity of infrastructure stakeholders through co-development and delivery of technical training courses, build broader awareness of the intersections of climate change, gender, and infrastructure in Suriname for decision makers, and support project legacy through the co-development of a long-term resilient infrastructure stakeholder training plan.

Northwest Territories Climate Change Risk and Opportunities Assessment
Location: Canadian Arctic
In collaboration with the Government of Northwest Territories, conduct a territorial-wide climate change risk and opportunities assessment to support the government in identifying and prioritizing both risks and opportunities currently and by mid-century.

Advancing the Halifax Regional Municipality’s Climate Change Action Plan: HalifACT
Location: Nova Scotia
Initiated, secured funding for, and project managed nine multi-stakeholder climate resiliency projects for the municipality, totaling $6.35M, including the creation of pluvial, fluvial, and coastal flood hazard maps, a resilient retrofit pilot project, a resilient retrofit guidebook for homeowners, a bridges under climate impacts analysis, a jurisdictional scan of resilient infrastructure codes and standards project, and a resilient infrastructure project to implement the first Green Shores certified natural infrastructure project in the municipality; supporting emergency management planning, community green space, infrastructure resilience, and municipal operations.

Lead Facilitator of the Gigatonne Challenge
Location: Nova Scotia
Led a team through Gigatonne Challenge. The Gigatonne Challenge is climate action with equity at heart. The challenge is a design thinking, rapid prototyping course that supports community teams from around the world to reduce carbon emissions in their communities, while benefiting the most vulnerable. Since 2020, 95 teams and 960+ citizens from cities worldwide have taken part in the challenge and together have reduced: 2181 tonnes of emissions.

Government of Nunavut Climate Change Adaptation Advisory
Location: Nunavut
Provided strategic policy advice, to Government of Nunavut departments, that was rooted in an in-depth knowledge of territorial, national, Indigenous, and international climate change policies, strategies, and climate science/observations.

Climate Change Preparedness in the North Program
Location: Nunavut
Managed financial, evaluation, reporting, and operational components of a multi-million dollar funding program through Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada that helped to build climate change capacity within Nunavut through community driven, government supported, projects including: developing a youth advisory committee on climate change, addressing the impact of permafrost degradation on traditional hunting grounds, and creating a social enterprise (SmartICE) in Arctic Bay that monitors sea-ice thickness for the tourism industry.

Partnership for Canada Community Climate Change Adaptation (ParCA)
Location: Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago
Carried out vulnerability assessment research; identified knowledge gaps, analyzed complex relationships between influencing factors, and designed and implemented a vulnerability assessment matrix to inform climate change management strategies at the municipal level. Provided coastal geomorphological and regional/international climate change adaptation research and analysis to the ParCA project; applying climate change theory to on-the-ground initiatives and transforming knowledge and data into concrete project outcomes.

Building African Health and Climate Change Capacity through the Gambia's Peer-Health Youth Educator Program
Location: The Gambia
In collaboration with the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association, supported integration of climate change considerations and linkages to health impacts into the curriculum for the Peer-Health Youth Educator Program. The Program trains peer-health youth educators throughout schools across the country who serve as school and community ambassadors to increase awareness of regional health impacts and preventative measures.

Environment Tobago Climate Change Adaptation
Location: Trinidad & Tobago
Enhanced the capacity of Environment Tobago to foster climate change adaptation across the island by initiating a coastal climate change program consisting of shoreline characterization research, local institutional outreach, community workshops, proposal writing, student mentorship, and participatory mapping.

Best Management Practices for Climate Adaptation in Dykelands
Location: Nova Scotia
Examined regional and international best practices for climate change adaptation in dykelands and communicated technical concepts to help inform provincial policies and enhance capacity of local government, NGOs, industries, and communities to address climate change impacts.

Urbanisme Board of Directors
Location: Caribbean
Reviewed and evaluated viability of project submissions, collaborated with board members to develop project plans, and sought opportunities to build strategic partnerships for Urbanisme, a non-profit organization supporting the development and use of sustainable practices in the Caribbean.

Running Dry Campaign and 7 Deserts Campaign
Location: Hong Kong
Supported the research and storytelling components for Thirst 4 Water’s third multi-continent marathon campaign and provided international logistics support for Thirst 4 Water’s 7 Deserts Campaign, where the CEO, ran 7 marathons across 7 deserts on 7 continents in 7 weeks to raise awareness of and initiate behavioural change around global water scarcity.

Coastal Protection Act Technical and Policy Advisor
Location: Nova Scotia
Developed the initial policy foundations and informed creation of the Nova Scotia Coastal Protection Act that addresses coastal climate change impacts across the province.

Educating Coastal Communities about Sea Level Rise
Location: Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, British Columbia
Developed and led the nation-wide Educating Coastal Communities About Sea-level Rise (SLR) project; translating and communicating regionally-specific climate change research to support community climate change planning across Atlantic Canada and British Columbia.

Investigating Coral Reef Dynamics in Honduras
Location: Honduras
Investigated coral reef dynamics in the Bay Islands of Honduras with Operation Wallacea, an international organization partnering with local associations worldwide to conduct meaningful biodiversity and conservation management research.

Community Map Coordinator
Location: Bolivia, Ecuador, Kenya, Nova Scotia
Coordinated the production of community sustainability maps for community groups throughout Bolivia, Ecuador, Kenya, and Nova Scotia including Peces para la Vida, an organization focused on food security, fisheries, and aquaculture in the Bolivian Amazon.
